Shopping Now and Social Responsibility...yes, that's right, social responsibility. People are most definitely saying a lot about the changing face of fashion, but one thing is for sure, from the pages of Vogue, Elle, WWD (Women's Wear Daily), the fashion paradigm is shifting. Quoted in WWD's April 13th issue by industry expert Mackey McDonald, "consumers will become more aspirational, what they will buy will be the things that will be important to their image and the statement they want to make about who they are." In other words, clothing and things for our home are no longer just status symbols...there has to be a sense of relevancy to them. What's forming is a "New Society" of designers who are not only interested in the demands consumers are making for relevancy, but have been searching for fashion relevance for quite some time with innovative ideas and company restructuring. Those who head this list are heavy hitters like Kenneth Cole, who has long linked his brand awareness of social issues, is finding his marketing niche filled with more and more voices. Donna Karan is trying to convey a sense of social consciousness through her Urban Zen concept. Louis Vuitton is also getting in on the shift. LVMH currently has its eye on Edun, the eco-luxury label founded in 2005 by U2's Bono and his designer wife Ali Hewson. Edun is an attempt to drive sustainable employment in developing economies through the production of organic fashions. So, while this economy has wreaked havoc in many of our lives, there are some really good things emerging on the other side and one of the very best is how we are reaching beyond ourselves to help others. One thing is for sure, we will continue to shop! Question is "Can you shop and make a difference?" Well, we're glad you asked, because we're here to tell you "Yes You Can!" At CindaLee's you will find the easiest way to effect change in this world...just shop. You will have the opportunity to provide and secure somebody's employment by helping to build sustainable businesses. You can shop for eco-friendly clothing and home accents to ensure and build a more sustainable world. Come in, enjoy, explore and see the impact you can have on making changes in the world and leave feeling good about looking fabulous! |
